I skipped class so I could accompany my friend to drive you to rehab. I didn’t know how long you would be gone or how long we would lack communication. In the car this song played and tears rolled down my face. I saw your face in the rear view mirror and all we could do was sing along to this song. Every time I hear this song the lyrics flow out of my mouth with ease and the sinking feeling of saying goodbye rushes back. I still know every single word, but I no longer know you. This song brings me back to a simpler time, when I thought it was me and you against the world.
